The Internet is a giant, terrifying, beautiful, all-encompassing wasteland that is either democratizing publishing or destroying it (depending on whom you ask). Getting published online is easy; making a living from it takes hard work. This four-week course will teach practical skills, such as developing a web presence, using social media productively, building relationships with editors, and effective invoicing. We will also work closely together to shape your story ideas, pitches, and long form pieces, with the aim of helping each student get published and paid.
ANNA FITZPATRICK has been working as a professional writer since she was in high school. She has contributed to The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Walrus, The Village Voice, Rolling Stone, Jezebel, Vice, Toronto Life, Nylon, Flare, and too many blogs to recall. She was the founder of an online networking group for women writers that hit 30,000 members in ten days.
*Limited seats will be available at a reduced rate of $195 + HST. You can apply for one of these spots under the Fee field on the registration form. Reduced rate registration is not guaranteed.
