When Flying Books first started to offer short writing classes in 2017, we got some feedback from you.
You wanted to spend more one-on-one time with the professional novelists, poets, and critics teaching your classes. And you wanted personalized advice on your writing, so you could improve faster.
As of Fall 2018, The Flying Books School of Reading and Writing offers one-on-one mentorships with professional writers. These sessions provide a rare opportunity for emerging writers to work on a writing project under the guidance of an established writer in a relevant field. Like a personal coach, a mentor will focus on your goals and provide practical notes, exercises, and advice to take your capacity for literary labour to the next level.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR WRITING WORKSHOP
Whether you’re working on polishing a few poems or revising your novel, our mentors can provide detailed notes, advice, and support to get you publication-ready.
Mentorships take place on a per-session basis. Each “session” is 60 minutes of one-on-one discussion with your mentor. You can use these sessions to talk about your vision for your work, point out the problems you’ve run into, and discuss your mentor’s suggestions. You can also ask for career advice, like where to submit your piece, how to create a sustainable writing practice, how to query agents, and more.
The per-session cost is $240 + tax.
